Welcome to Santos

The city-port with the world's largest beach garden

Santos is a city located partially on the island of São Vicente and on the coast of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, 72 km from the homonymous capital city of that state.

It is officially considered a tourist resort and the symbolic capital of São Paulo. It is home to the "Santos Futebol Clube", where the famous footballer Pelé played.
Activities linked to the Port -the largest in Latin America, 13 kilometers long and through which more than a quarter of all cargo entering and leaving Brazil goes through- are the main source of wealth in the municipality, making Santos the most important city, economically speaking, in the Baixada Santista Metropolitan Region and one of the richest in the country.

The sectors of tourism, services and fishing in general complete the list of the main activities of Santos' economy. On the one hand, there is its thriving economy and on the other, its leisure-oriented spirit. Santos' main attraction is its seven kilometers of beach, accompanied by the largest seaside garden in the world, a title awarded by Guinness World Records in 2002.

No matter what kind of tourist you are, Santos will fascinate you with all it has to offer: historical buildings, cultural centers and museums (with the Coffee Museum standing out among them), for those looking to learn a little more about the city's history. There are beautiful walks, parks and forests, a botanical garden and an aquarium for nature lovers; a wide variety of restaurants and gastronomic venues serving international cuisine on Rua Tolentino Filgueiras for foodies; and the best diving and underwater photography spot in the state of São Paulo: the Marinho da Laje de Santos State Park, for the more adventurous.

SANTOS: A CITY WHERE ANCIENT AND MODERN COME TOGETHER IN PERFECT HARMONY

A leading port at continental level

Managed by the state-owned company Autoridade Portuária de Santos (SPA), the Port of Santos is the largest port complex in Latin America and the most important in Brazil. It is a multipurpose port, since it handles a wide variety of cargoes (dry and liquid bulk, general bulk, containerized and project cargoes), and stands out year after year for its movement of national and international cargoes.
