Getting to punta del Este by air
If you chose to travel by plane, you can arrive to the Punta del Este International Airport or to the Carrasco International Airport, close to the city of Montevideo and only 114 Km. away from Punta del Este.
If you are traveling from countries outside the region, please bear in mind that it will be necessary to make a stop at the Carrasco Airport or at Aeroparque in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
- PUNTA DEL ESTE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The Punta del Este International Airport or Laguna del Sauce International Airport (PDP) is located in the municipality of Piriápolis, about 20 kilometers from the peninsula and it mainly serves the city of Punta del Este.
This airport receives flights of the following airlines: Aerolíneas Argentinas, Alas Uruguay, Azul and Latam.
It also receives direct flights from the following countries:
Argentina: Buenos Aires (Aeroparque), Rosario, Córdoba. The flight that departs from Aeroparque operates year-round, but we recommend checking the frequencies of the flights departing from Rosario and Córdoba.
Brazil: Porto Alegre and São Paulo.
- CARRASCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The Carrasco International Airport, Gral. Cesáreo L. Berisso (MVD) is the main international airport in Uruguay and it operates both national and international flights to/from South, Central and North America and from Europe.
It operates flights of the following airlines: Aerolíneas Argentinas, Aeromás, Air Class, Air Europa, Amaszonas Uruguay, American Airlines, Austral, Avianca, Azul, Copa Airlines, Gol Linhas Aéreas, Iberia, Grupo Latam Airlines and Sky.
Getting to punta del Este by river
You can get to Punta del Este through the different river passenger transport services available. The points of arrival of these services are: Colonia del Sacramento and the Port of Montevideo, coming from the city of Buenos Aires. Many river transport service providers even include the bus shuttle to Punta del Este within the cost of the ticket. Otherwise, once you arrive to Uruguay you can get to this city with your own vehicle (you can cross with your car on the ferry), rent a car or take the bus.
